Located on the sandy, southern shores of picturesque Sixth Lake, Clayton’s Cottages
is nestled between the ridges of Black Bear,
Seventh Lake and Woods Mountains. Deep
within the Adirondack Forest, Clayton founded and began building this resort in 1936, using the native materials, wood, and stone. Hemlock, pine and hardwoods, sand beach with crystal clear water, fireside embers and congenial atmosphere merge to provide a restful year around vacation retreat and year-long memories.

Unrivalled opportunities for boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hunting, fishing, sailing, trail hiking, mountain climbing and biking are offered by this lake region of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Boasting 46 peaks of 4,000 feet or more, over a thousand lakes, and an apparently endless forest, this area is well known for its serenity and as a haven for hay fever victims.

Our wood-paneled cottages each have a gas
or electric wood-stove fireplace and a porch
which overlooks the lake. Complete kitchens,
with new electric refrigerator/freezer and gas
ranges with oven, bath with shower, hot water,
thermostat controlled heat, wall to wall
carpeting, color cable TV, FM radio, toaster,
coffee maker, and good beds to insure the
comfort of our North Wood’s visitors.

Our shallow beach has a clean, sandy bottom, making it safe for the smallest swimmer. Two large docks, lakeside decks and fireplace, volleyball area, swing set and huge lawn contribute to family fun and impromptu ball games. Each cottage has its own picnic table and charcoal grill offering picnicking in mountain-fresh air.

Though surrounded by wilderness, you are
convenient to grocery stores, churches,
gift shops, garages, Laundromats, public
tennis courts, theatres, golf courses, and
restaurants; even a well-equipped medical
centre, which we hope you won’t need, but
is great to have if you do.

We have aluminum rowboats, for the
use of our guests. Power boats may be
obtained from nearby boat liveries. Advance
arrangements maybe made for docking
of guests’ own boats. Seaplane rides are
available locally for those wishing rides.

Drake's Inn family restaurant and tavern
is adjacent to our property and serves breakfast,
lunch and dinner as well as takeout meals.
